Restful Sleep

The Overloaded Body.

Your sleep isn't the problem. Your life isn't leaving room for it.

Watch this first

What's actually happening.

You're not sleeping because, on some level, you haven't stopped. Not really. Sleep asks you to put everything down, and there's something in you that either can't, or doesn't feel like it's allowed to yet.

This often shows up as falling asleep easily (because you're exhausted) but waking in the night when the to-do list floods back in. Or using screens and alcohol to manufacture the wind-down that your day hasn't provided naturally. Your body wants rest. Your life isn't structured to allow it.

There's frequently a belief sitting underneath this too: I'll rest when I've done enough. But enough never quite arrives. And so neither does rest.

Why what you've tried hasn't worked.

Sleep hygiene tips and bedtime routines don't reach this layer. You probably know what to do, the problem is that by the time you get to bed, your system has had no genuine downshift across the day. You've gone from output directly to going to bed and expected your body to make the leap alone. It can't.

What actually helps.

Looking honestly at what your days contain, and what they're missing. Pleasure, space, things that belong only to you. This sounds soft, but it has a direct biological mechanism: moments of genuine enjoyment and rest regulate your nervous system in ways that no sleep hack can replicate. A life with no room in it produces a body that cannot rest.

The work here isn't more discipline. It's permission.

One thing to try tonight.

Before you get into bed, ask yourself honestly: Did anything happen today that was only for me? Not productive, not for anyone else, just something that felt good. If the answer is no, notice that. Tomorrow, do one small thing that belongs to you. This isn't indulgence. It's biology.

A calm bedroom at night

Your next step.

The 7-Night Reset was built for a body like yours, and Day 6 will feel like it was written specifically for you. If you want to map out what would actually make rest possible in your life, that's exactly what a Strategy Session is for.
